The role of the ETL Developer is to ensure accuracy & integrity of data & applications through analysis, coding, writing clear documentation & problem resolution. Analyze & translate functional specifications & change requests into technical specifications. Translate business needs into end user applications.
The position will be about 70% ETL development and support and 30% supporting application development in other areas of the organization. Ideal candidates will be passionate about exceeding client expectations and will be driven to learn new ETL technologies and operating systems. In addition, candidates must be able to understand complex data structures, and have a strong understanding of logical and physical database design.
What does an ETL Developer do?
Develop and test extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes in a SQL Server environment
Support or enhance the ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements. (Microsoft BI Stack: SSIS, SSAS and SSRS)
Map source system data to data warehouse models
Work with business analysts to understand source data systems
Define and capture metadata and rules associated with ETL (SSIS) processes
Support production mappings
Monitor ETL applications for performance and improvement opportunities
Ensure the quality, consistency and security of company data and data warehouse systems
Ability to switch easily between different projects and flexibility to handle a rapidly changing environment for large volumes of data
Troubleshoot and diagnosis complex software problems
Packaging and release management
Work with application developers, business partners, management and Data Warehouse team
Develop ETL procedures based on business requirements and service level agreements
Responsible for delivering quality data integration projects
Responsible for reviewing requirements, architecture and design components of ongoing and upcoming projects

What are the requirements?
8+ years of experience working with the Microsoft BI stack: SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
8+ years of experience working in a Data Warehouse, specifically SQL Server
8+ Years of experience as an ETL Developer specifically working with SSIS
Extensive Data Modeling Experience
Strong SQL experience required, candidate should have the ability to create complex queries to retrieve data
Solid understanding of SDLC, software best practices and development methodologies
Good knowledge of metadata, and using/managing metadata
Ability to develop and organize high-quality documentation
Take responsibility for performance tuning
Understanding of building data warehouses for analytical and business intelligence solutions
